Tomorrow, my mum and I are setting off on a remarkable adventure along the Via Podensis, a historic route that stretches from Le Puy En Velay to St Jean Pied de Port, 750km all up. This journey promises to be filled with breathtaking landscapes, cultural experiences, and personal growth as we traverse the picturesque countryside of France.
I have already done a similar hiking trip last year, after I walked 900km from St Jean Pied de Port to Finisterre. Call me crazy, but now I am doing it all again with my best friend by my side, my mum!

As we lace up our hiking boots and prepare to take our first steps along this ancient path, we are filled with a sense of anticipation and wonder. The Via Podensis, also known as the Le Puy Camino, or the GR65, is renowned for its beauty and tranquility, offering people a chance to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and reconnect with nature and themselves. We arrived in Le Puy en Velay yesterday and used today to settle in, pack our bags, buy some last minute things and go to the cathedral to meet some other pilgrims over a glass of juice/wine mix.

We will be leaving at 7am sharp tomorrow morning after the pilgrims mass and send off at the cathedral! How exciting

Throughout our journey, I will be sharing our experiences, reflections, and encounters with those we meet along the way. Expect to see stunning photos of rolling hills, small villages, and historic landmarks from our journey. We’ll also be sharing stories of the people we meet, the local cuisine we indulge in, and the challenges we face as we walk hundreds of kilometers on this sacred path.
Join us as we embrace the simplicity and serenity of life on the Camino, where each step brings us closer to our destination and closer to our true selves.
Stay tuned for updates, insights, and inspiration from the Via Podensis.
Let the adventure begin!
Jess (and Rosemarie)
